I’m guessing you could study stars and find out more about how they are made and discover different constellations

Planetariums (there are 3000 in the USA)
NASA, Dept of Commerce, Dept of Agriculture or DoD in the federal government
    Observatories
    Universities or colleges, teaching
Firms in the aerospace field, such as Northrup-Grumman, Bigelow, Lockheed Martin, or SpaceX
The above require anything from a BA to a PhD depending.

With a bachelors, not much. You’d need a PhD in physics or astronomy to do research in the field, and there aren’t very many jobs in the field if you don’t have a PhD (and if you do want a PhD in astronomy, major in physics in college). If you do want one, that’s 8-12 years of college. With one, you can work for colleges and universities (teaching and doing research), observatories (running instruments and doing research), national labs, and NASA (research).

Right now, with a degree in astronomy, you can earn $ 100,000 per year driving a city bus in Washington, DC. Similar opportunities probably exist in New York City. I would suspect that
some endeavor in astronomy will pay much less.

Well, what I’m planning is to go for Astronomy at uni, then go for scientific writing, for something like New Scientist.

Astronomy is the study of space. There really is no purpose of space because it does not exist. there no proof what so ever to indicate outer space exists!

Jose is exactly right. Astronomy is a science… not a belief, nor a value. I suggest that you pick another subject if what you listed are the qualifications.

Astronomy is a branch of science that deals with the universe, and the celestial bodies in it. For more information, I recommend “Google”.

if you have to have this subject , if it was assigned to you, you cannot pick another subject….I would go with the belief of astronomy.. that is how the stars line up correctly (the world will be perfect), or the zodiac signs have to do with the beliefs of it.. Just a few thoughts.. Good luck.. it is not always all about the science..

  9. lindajune Says:

I don’t understand how the science of astronomy could be a topic under Values and Beliefs.

Science is a set of rules and standards for the gathering, analysis, and interpretation of data (observations). Values and beliefs shouldn’t be a part of the scientific method (though an individual scientists values and beliefs will be part of their own research).
But science itself is a pure discipline, not a value or belief.
