Query by Hannah Neslo: What are some astronomy connected careers that use artwork?
I would enjoy to have a profession in astronomy, but I’m not so fantastic at math or physics. I am, on the other hand, decent with artwork. Is there any job that has equally astronomy and artwork in it? Is there any list of related astronomy careers online that could support me? I’ve been seeking, but so far haven’t had considerably luck.

You can do art for like magazines. I dunno if you’ve read any astronomy magazines but you’ll see “an artists impression of blah blah” and there’s this like really cool image. I would love a job doing that because the art is amazing. Take a look in an Astronomy mag and see what i mean. I dunno what the jobs called though, sorry.

Most organisations associated with astronomy or science in general should have a press office, an art department, or something of similar sort, that deals with their publications. You could work as an illustrator for them. Or you could be a freelancer and get paid for having your work published.

Space Artists are famous for their fantastic views of the cosmos where even the best telescopes have no chance to see the phenomena. So if you would like to do this, it will be appreciated very much.
However, the situation is not that good as it used to be. To much competition, to much computer generated stuff.
Anyway, take a look at magazines such as Astronomy, Sky & Telescope, New Scientist, Scientific American, Discover.
Furthermore, just look at pictures e.g. by David A. Hardy, Michael Carroll, William Hartmann, Lynette Cook, Roen Kelly, Don Dixon, Don Davis etc – you can find them easily with Google. You might even contact some of them.
Another possibility: Graphic design. Making good scientific illustrations and graphics. Not that creative, but very helpful. See, again, the magazines mentioned above.
Another Possibility: Planetarium. They need artists and creative people too.

Are you giving answers or what? I think the ancient peoples would have managed growing seasons, regular floods and so on without astronomy, simply by counting days and watching plants and weather. Basically, astronomy had no necessary practical value. It was unnecessary to use it for agriculture and even harmful, because the weather is not regular like the stars. It helped a bit with navigation, but was only needed when one was far from the shore, therefore rarely.
