Dilemma by Dump the liberals into Jupiter: How lots of astronomy undergraduates are presently attempting to ascertain Vesta’s orbital components?
I suggest, you just can’t get a improved observational set up for it than right now. Weather permitting, of course. Vesta’s in close proximity to opposition, around a number of naked eye stars, and an easy target with binocs. I observed it just now as a result of a skinny spot in the clouds. It is shifting retrograde and closing with the line amongst Algieba and 40 Leonis, and will most likely cross that line on 16 February.

+Discovering the Universe, 8th Ed. It’s a bit pricey, but you won’t need another book. It also comes with the Starry Night Enthusiast CD.

I’m 14 and i started a few years ago with a telescope, and i suggest you start there because when I started it was nice to see how the things work with out the explanation of how it happened. So buy a telescope and start in your backyard with a star chart. I also have a few astronomy books, the one I recommend is Universe by Nicholas Cheetham. It explains everything by the distance from the earth like in our solar system it gives you detailed descriptions of the planets. I like it i got it this year.
Then for equations and more expert vocabulary look for cambridge and Stanford books at your library.
