As being into astronomy from 14 years old, and i’m now 70 years old, and I still love astronomy.
The reason most people loose entrees in astronomy is because they just keep viewing the same things every time they get their telescopes out.
I don’t know what type telescope you have, or hard ware to use with it, but if you have a telescope that can track objects,and a camera to where you can take time exposures.
Pick out a region of the sky that doesn’t appear to have anything in it, then check out your deep space star charts to make sure there is some Nebula’s or Galaxy’s then set up your camera to where you will get some great photos, then you have photos of items that only a very few people ever get to see.
Then you can search for Asteroids and try to find ones that has never been seen, and when you find one that has never been seen, you can name it after your self or a friend, plus your name will be put into astronomy books as the person that found that unknown Asteroid.
To search for Asteroids all you need is a telescope that tracks plus a camera to tale regular photos and time laps photos, use a wide angle lines with your camera, after you have taken a photo of that area, do not move your telescope, then in a couple of hours, take another photo, then set up the photos to where you can flip from one to the other, the stars and planets will remain nearly the same, but if there is and Asteroid in that area, you will see that it has moved much further than the other objects, down load or buy a chart that shows all the known Asteroids, this way you will know if you have found a new one or one that is already known.
You might be the person that might find the one that one day will hit and destroy all life on the planet, if you become this person, you may also be the person that found the Asteroid soon enough that the earth could be saved.
Would you like to be this person, and your name in many books, plus the money you would make just being you, and what you did.

1. Observe all the Messier objects.
2. If you’ve already observed all the Messiers, reobserve them with a larger or smaller telescope, or binoculars.
3. The Astronomical League’s Double Star Club.
4. Try to observe all the planets in one night.
5. Locate and observe 5 different asteroids.
6. Observe the RASC Finest NGC list.
7. Observe some variable stars — this has kept me busy for 7 years now, and I’m still going strong!
8. Hold a star party for friends and neighbours.
9. Join an astronomy club.
