Brown is well-known for achaeology, but isn’t great for astronomy. Pretty much any other ivy and many state schools have better astronomy and physics programs than Brown. And for forensics – you don’t need a top school for that.

The answer really depends on where your own interests lie. In the area of observational astronomy – like amateur astronomy, going outside with a scope and seeing things, etc, my favorite sources are:

If your taste is more toward the large-scale or theoretical:
1. Cosmos by Carl Sagan
2. Death by Black Hole by N.D. Tyson

4. Einstein’s Telescope by Evalyn Gates
5. The Cosmic Perspective by Donahue et al
And if you are more just geared toward science in general, I can highly recommend anything by Richard Feynman, Jacob Bronowski, or Stephen J. Gould.
